Quality Goes A Long Way

It's a common misconception that all paint is the same, when really it's not. Skimming on quality can make your painted space look well, cheap...to be blunt. Paying a little more for a better quality paint goes a long way and does a lot more than you think. Quality paint provides better coverage and a depth of color that makes your walls truly come to life. They also require less coats to bring out the color you want, therefore sometimes costing you less over time since it won't fade as quickly and provides the look you want from the start.

Sheen Makes a Difference

Flat, Matte, Eggshell, Satin, Semi-Gloss or High-Gloss? Choosing the right sheen is important for both looks and practicality. This can depend on the traffic you expect: Gloss is toughest, and it helps hold up and look good in high-traffic areas, especially if you have kids. For trim, like door casings and shutters, semi-gloss is recommended: It's less shiny but still durable. Satin, or low-luster, is easy to clean, while flat paint hides imperfections and is easier to touch up. This is something we'll address when figuring out what sheen fits best with your desired look and what will hold up against your spaces intended purpose.

A Color for Every Mood

The mood or vibe of your space plays a big role in the color you choose. Want something that's relaxing? I'd recommend choosing a color that's a different, more subtle tone of an actual color. For example, instead of going with stark white, go with an off-white cream color for more warmth and relaxation. Want something more bold? I'd consider choosing a contrasting color in brighter hues, such as an orange and even blue color scheme. Color really does define the mood and feel of any space. Prefer whites or blacks? That's absolutely doable too. There's an array of different tones of these colors so if you want something that gives a statement without being too dramatic, I'd suggest going with a dark grey. Or if you have a nice wide open space that you want to keep bright and fresh, white with a subtle warm or cool undertone can do a lot to creating the mood you desire.

Safe Paint for You and the Planet

I always try to recommend my clients look for a paint that has no VOCs (volatile organic compounds). These paints are not only safe and  helping the planet but they also keep you and your family safe.

Vibrancy

One of the worst things to experience when buying paint is when you choose a color, get it on the walls and the color ends up being dull, boring and just completely uninteresting. Not quite what you were looking for or expecting. Making sure your paint will look as good on the walls as it does in the can is a very important part of choosing the right paint. If paint is called bright orange, you should be able to expect bright orange. If you're unsure of what paint to choose and your concern is if it'll be vibrant in the way you want, I'll be able to assist you with making sure that happens.
